Investment Tracker Help

Installation

Investment Tracker for Excel is easy to install. Run the INVTRKXL.EXE download file to start the program installer that will install the program on your computer. (If you downloaded the INVTRKXL.ZIP file instead, just extract all the files and follow the directions here.) The Investment Tracker for Excel workbook is named INVXL100.XLSM. (The last two characters of the file name reflect the version number, i.e. 110 is version 1.10. Don't worry if your files end with 1.11 or 1.20, etc. The file names change accordingly with maintenance releases.) Documentation is provided in the form of this online help system.

To uninstall Investment Tracker for Excel, use the Uninstall link in the Investment Tracker program group or use the Apps applet in Windows Settings and delete your Investment Tracker file.

You can rename the INVXL100.XLSM file if you desire. However, this will disable the Windows Start Menu Group shortcut and Desktop shortcut that the program installs. Right-click on the desktop shortcut icon and select Properties from the shortcut menu to modify the shortcut properties to point to the new file name. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to fix the broken link on the Windows Start Menu.

If you are currently using a previous version of Investment Tracker for Excel, you can easily import your data from the old version to the new version. Click on the topics below for more details.

You may receive a security warning when you open Investment Tracker for Excel for the first time and you will need to enable the "Enable Content" for the program to function. See the Macros and Security topic for more details and additional instructions if you have trouble enabling the content macros.
